Bally's Casino Tunica is a 238 room hotel and a 40,000 square feet (3,700 m2) casino with a rustic 19th century theme that is located in Tunica, Mississippi. The casino is owned by Colony Capital and operated by its Resorts International Holdings division. Caesars Entertainment owns the Bally's name and is used by Resorts International Holdings.
History
The casino was opened in 1995 by Bally Entertainment Corporation. It was originally located at Mhoon Landing, the site of all of four of Tunica's original casinos (Splash Casino, Bally's, President Casino Southern Mist and Lady Luck). When larger casinos were built upriver closer to Memphis, Bally's closed and moved upriver — literally, as the casino barge was floated to a new berth in Robinsonville (now called Tunica Resorts) close to Casino Center, home of the Horseshoe Casino Tunica, Gold Strike Resort and Casino, and Tunica Roadhouse. As part of the move, Bally's acquired the Lady Luck Hotel a short distance from the new casino location.
In recent years, Bally's has become known as a 'low roller' casino with low-minimum craps, blackjack and roulette games. In particular, the craps tables offered bets as low as 25 cents back in 2004.[citation needed]
Bally's Tunica was eventually acquired by Park Place Entertainment which later became Caesars Entertainment. When Caesars was acquired by Harrah's Entertainment in 2005, Bally's Tunica (along with Harrah's Tunica) was sold to Colony Capital to keep Harrah's from dominating the Tunica market with five casinos.[citation needed]
